AROUND SCOTLAND IN 1 DAY: PRIVATE LOCH NESS AND HIGHLANDS GUIDED TOUR

Description:

To Nessie

LOCH NESS, HIGHLANDS

Embark on an adventure in the Highlands with our Loch Ness road trip, starting from the lively city of Edinburgh. Heading northwest, we pass by the majestic Stirling Castle and take a break near Loch Lomond to try and spot some Highland cows, depending on the season. Our journey unfolds through the captivating land of Rob Roy, crossing the territories of the MacGregor and Campbell clans, and traversing the breathtaking landscapes of Rannoch Moor and Black Mount, culminating in the iconic Glencoe, known for the tragic Clan MacDonald massacre in 1692.

Here, we'll take a moment to capture the essence of this enchanting valley during a photo stop. You will then enter the glacial valley of the Great Glen, passing by the imposing presence of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain.

Venturing further, you'll reach Fort Augustus, nestled along the shores of Loch Ness. Extending over 23 miles and plunging to depths exceeding 700 feet, Loch Ness claims the title of the largest loch in Scotland by volume. Enjoy a guided tour of Urquhart Castle with stunning views of Loch Ness.

Loch Ness, spanning 24 miles and plunging to depths of over 700 feet, is renowned for its Loch Ness Monster sightings, affectionately known as "Nessie." As you begin your return journey, explore Cairngorms National Park and the enchanting forests of Perthshire, including Atholl Forest.

Conclude this road trip odyssey with an evening refreshment break in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, marking the final stop before the return to Edinburgh. This road trip through the Highlands promises not only breathtaking scenery but also the thrill of the open road and the joy of discovery at every turn.
