INTRODUCTION TO THE HIGHLANDS: PRIVATE STIRLING AND TROSSACHS GUIDED TOUR

Description:

To the Kelpies

LOCH KATRINE, HIGHLANDS

Departing Edinburgh, your journey begins with the first highlight of the day: the Kelpies. Rising to a height of 30 meters, these sculptures have the distinction of being the largest equine representations in the world, depicting mythical creatures from Scottish folklore. Forget the Loch Ness monster and discover the story of these shape-shifting water spirits.

Then head west to the picturesque shores of Loch Katrine, a jewel among Scotland's lochs in both beauty and size. Here, you can choose to join a one-hour cruise* or enjoy a leisurely walk, taking in panoramic views of the loch's myriad islands and surrounding mountains.

Continuing through the Trossachs National Park, aptly named "the Highlands in miniature" for its wealth of lochs, mountains and forests, you'll explore these rolling landscapes associated with the legendary outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor. A break in a charming village nestled in natural beauty provides the perfect setting for a delicious lunch.

After lunch, our itinerary takes you through the town of Callander, past the medieval castle of Doune, to our final destination of the day: Stirling Castle. Perched atop a volcanic rock, this fortress is one of Scotland's most important historical sites, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

You'll have plenty of time to explore the castle, immersing yourself in the stories of key historical figures such as William Wallace, Robert Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots. With breathtaking views of the mountains and the Wallace Monument, the Stirling Castle experience is a must on any trip to Scotland.

As the day draws to a close, you'll begin your journey back to Edinburgh, concluding your exploration of Scotland's cultural and natural wonders an driving through the gorgeous Forth bridges.
